We are a small import company. We collect nothing beyond what you write to us, and we use it for nothing other than answering you.

Who is responsible

Monrik Wines AS, company number 932 926 377, with an office in Oslo and a warehouse in Vestby, is the data controller for information collected through monrikwines.com. If you have questions about how we handle it, write to henrik@monrikwines.com.

What we collect

What you enter yourself. If you send an enquiry about a Monrik Evening, we receive your name, email address, any phone number, preferred date, number of guests and whatever you write in the message field. The contact form and the trade form work the same way.

The newsletter has two separate lists. If you sign up for the general newsletter, we receive your first name and email address. If you sign up for Monrik Trade, which is for restaurants and wine bars, we receive your first and last name, company, email address and, if you give it, your role.

Four further things are recorded automatically with every submission: which language version of the form you used, which list you signed up for, which page you signed up from, and your IP address. The IP address is stored by Netlify alongside the submission and cannot be switched off in the service. We make no use of it.

We do not buy lists, and we do not gather information about you from other sources.

What we use it for

To answer your enquiry, plan the evening you asked about, or process an order from a restaurant. For the newsletter we use your address to send a few emails a year about what has come home and about the evenings in the showroom. The two lists are kept apart, and you only hear from the one you signed up for.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and fulfilling agreements, and for the newsletter, your own consent.

Who has access

Monica and Henrik. The forms go to them, and no one else has access to the submissions.

The site and its forms run on Netlify, which acts as our data processor. Submissions are stored with them in the United States. The transfer rests on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Netlify also runs an automatic spam filter (Akismet) over submissions before they reach us, which means the content of the form is assessed by that service.

If you place an order that ships from the warehouse, we share what is needed to get the goods to you with Nordic Beverage Solution. We do not sell, trade or rent information to anyone.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while the conversation is live, and deleted no later than two years after the last contact. If you are a customer, we keep what Norwegian accounting law requires for five years. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe — every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can simply write to us instead.

Cookies

The site uses no cookies for tracking, statistics or marketing. We use no analytics, there are no tracking pixels and there are no advertising networks.

The only thing stored in your browser is one technical preference: whether the film on the front page should play with sound. It sits in session storage, is cleared when you close the tab, and is never sent to us.

The typefaces are served from our own server. Your browser fetches nothing from Google, and no third party sees that you are visiting us.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct anything wrong, ask for it to be deleted, and ask for a copy. If you have given consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to henrik@monrikwines.com and we will answer within 30 days.

If you believe we are handling your information incorrectly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

Changes

If we change this statement, we update the date at the top of the page. Significant changes are announced in the newsletter.
