See the wine
It barely rains. Nothing is irrigated. Each vine stands alone in a pit dug into the black ash, with a crescent wall of lava stone around it against the trade winds. The roots are ungrafted — the louse that laid waste to Europe’s vineyards never reached this far out into the Atlantic.
We found Lanzarote in 1967. A few years later, we were the ones who brought the first Norwegians there — to resorts the family had built itself. We have belonged here ever since. The wine was the last thing we brought home, and the wineries knew who we were long before we asked.
